Papa Benedikt XVI. - Joseph Ratzinger
Benedikt XVI - Jozef Racinger je rođen 1927. godine u Marktlu na Inu u nemačkoj pokrajini Bavarskoj. Posle studija i svešteničke hirotonije predavao je teologiju na univerzitetima u Minhenu, Bonu, Minsteru, Tibingenu i Regenzburgu. Tokom Drugog vatikanskog koncila bio je teološki savetnik kardinala Fringsa. Posle izuzetno aktivne i zapažene bogoslovske delatnosti, 1977. godine postavljen je za arhiepiskopa minhenskog i tu dužnost obavljao do 1981. godine, kada je Jovan Pavle II. postavljen za poglavara Kongregacije za nauk vere, najvažnije vatikanske institucije. Na tom položaju je ostao do smrti Jovana Pavla II. 2. aprila 2005. Nekoliko nedelja kasnije, na konklavi 19. aprila 2005. izabran je za 265. naslednika Sv. Petra. Pontifikat pape Benedikta XVI završava se 28. februara 2013. njegovim odricanjem od službe rimskog biskupa.
