David Baldacci is an American author and lawyer, now recognized as a master of the contemporary crime and political thriller. Before dedicating himself fully to writing, he worked for years as a successful attorney in Washington, D.C., gaining deep insight into the workings of the legal and political systems—themes that form the backbone of his most famous works. He rose to literary prominence in 1996 with his debut novel, Absolute Power, which became an instant global bestseller and was successfully adapted into a film directed by Clint Eastwood. Since then, he has written over 40 novels for adults, as well as several notable series for younger readers. Baldacci is best known for creating compelling, multidimensional characters and for plot dynamics that maintain suspense right up to the final page. His most popular series include those featuring Amos Decker (the "Memory Man"), John Puller, and Will Robie, as well as The Camel Club series. His works regularly top The New York Times bestseller list and have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide.
