Die erste systematische Monographie über die Geschichte der Stadt Samobor und ihrer Feudalherren vom Mittelalter bis zum 19. Jahrhundert, herausgegeben von Vjekoslav Noršić (1880–1953), einem katholischen Priester und Historiker aus Samobor.

Das Werk bietet einen Überblick über die Geschichte Samobors von seinen Anfängen im Mittelalter bis in die Neuzeit, mit besonderem Fokus auf die Feudalherren der Stadt und des Gutes Samobor. Noršić beschreibt detailliert die einzelnen Adelsfamilien, die Samobor regierten (z. B. Babonići, Celjski, Frankopani, Erdődy u. a.), ihre Beziehungen untereinander, Konflikte, Landkäufe und ihren Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der Stadt und ihrer Umgebung.

Das Buch basiert auf Archivquellen, alten Dokumenten und Literatur, was für die damalige Zeit sehr umfassend war. Der Stil ist klar, prägnant und populärwissenschaftlich – und richtet sich nicht nur an Fachleute, sondern auch an gebildete Bürger von Samobor und Umgebung. Der Autor bringt einen patriotischen Stolz auf die Vergangenheit seiner Heimatregion zum Ausdruck, der typisch für die kroatische Lokalgeschichtsschreibung des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts ist.

Dies ist Noršićs erste größere Veröffentlichung. Später erweiterte und ergänzte er das Thema, sodass 1942 eine zweite, erweiterte Auflage erschien. Das Buch ist von Bedeutung, da es die Grundlage für spätere Monografien über Samobor und die Lokalgeschichte bildet. Heute gilt es als Rarität und begehrte antiquarische Ausgabe.

Das Werk ist wichtig für die Erforschung der Geschichte des kroatischen Zagorje, der feudalen Verhältnisse im späten Mittelalter und der frühen Neuzeit sowie der Entwicklung der Region Samobor. Noršić wurde später einer der produktivsten Forscher der Lokalgeschichte von Samobor und den umliegenden Gemeinden.
