The book "Zebnja" by Croatian writer and poet Ivan Michel Antolović, published in 2013, represents a mature poetic achievement focused on the theme of inner emotional and existential states. The title of the work itself hints at the basic tone of the collection — a constant feeling of anxiety, insecurity and silent concern in the face of the challenges of human everyday life and the inexorable flow of time. Antolović's poetic expression in this collection is characterized by conciseness, picturesqueness and a deep focus on the intimacy of the individual. The poet does not use bombastic metaphors or overly complex linguistic constructions, but uses simple but carefully chosen words to build a very striking atmosphere. At the heart of his interests are the observation of nature, human relationships, the transience of life, loneliness and the search for peace in a world that often seems alienated and unstable.
