The book explores the interrelationship of personality traits, cognitive abilities and success in learning, emphasizing that intellectual capacity is not the only prerequisite for effective knowledge acquisition.
Scientific monograph "Abilities for learning and personality" dr. Radivoje Kvaščev's work is extremely important in the field of pedagogy and personality psychology. In this paper, the author deals with the complex relationship between individual cognitive abilities, personality structure and the learning process, trying to answer the question why students with equal intellectual abilities often achieve significantly different school and academic success. Kvasčev analyzes in detail the various factors that influence the speed, depth and durability of acquired knowledge. In addition to general intelligence and specific primary mental abilities, the author places a strong emphasis on non-factorial (non-intellectual) determinants of learning. These include achievement motivation, anxiety, introversion and extraversion, self-esteem, emotional stability, and learning styles. Through rich empirical material and theoretical elaborations, the book proves that personality traits act as important modifiers and guides of intellectual abilities. The work provides valuable theoretical and practical guidelines to psychologists, pedagogues and teachers for an individualized approach to teaching and optimal development of the potential of each student.
