Ishrana bilja i gnojidba
The book covers the fundamentals of plant nutrition, the physicochemical properties of soil, the types and application of organic and mineral fertilizers, and professional guidelines for optimal fertilization to ensure high yields and soil conservation.
The technical manual Plant Nutrition and Fertilization (Ishrana bilja i gnojidba) by Artur Vajnberger, published in 1985, stands as a seminal work in domestic agronomy within the fields of soil science and agrochemistry. The book provides a detailed analysis of the physiological processes involved in the uptake of macro-elements (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium) and micro-elements (iron, boron, zinc, copper, etc.) that are crucial for the proper growth, development, and productivity of agricultural crops. Special emphasis is placed on the interaction between plant and soil, examining soil chemical reaction (pH), buffering capacity, adsorption capacity, and the biological activity of microorganisms. The author explains how soil composition and acidity directly influence nutrient availability to plant roots. The second part of the book details organic fertilizers (manure, liquid manure, compost) and a wide range of mineral fertilizers, analyzing their chemical composition, solubility, and methods and timing of application. Practical guidelines are provided for calculating required fertilizer dosages based on soil chemical analysis, thereby preventing wasteful use and minimizing negative environmental impact. The book is intended for agronomists, students, and advanced farmers.
