Ustroj i djelovanje 106. brigade
Tihomir Čuljak’s monograph provides a comprehensive overview of the formation, organization, and combat history of the 106th Osijek Brigade, a key unit in the defense of Osijek and eastern Croatia.
The book "Organization and operation of the 106th ZNG Brigade of the Republic of Croatia" by Tihomir Čuljko is a thorough and valuable testimony about one of the most important units from the Homeland War. Founded on June 28, 1991 in Osijek, the 106th Brigade played an immeasurable role in stopping enemy attacks and preserving the survival of the city in its most difficult moments.
Through the monograph, the organizational development, the command system and the tactical operation of the unit on the demanding front lines are covered in detail. The author systematically presents the circumstances in which the Croatian Defense Police was created, often in conditions of a great shortage of weapons and military equipment. The special value of the work is in giving permanent recognition to the people who formed the backbone of the brigade - more than ten thousand veterans passed through its ranks, with 196 members giving up their lives, and 850 of them lightly or seriously wounded.
In addition to military and strategic analyzes of war operations, the book also serves as an important document of collective memory, preserving from oblivion the everyday life of wartime Osijek under siege. It represents a permanent monument to the courage, sacrifice and patriotism of Croatian veterans and an important source for the study of recent national history.
